Description
This painting is about the first holy communion or Eucharist. But it is also about not being grateful. It is based on the Old testament passage where Moses is leading the Israelites out in the desert and they were hungry, so God manifested manna. (gold coin like objects in painting) They complained that they didn't have meat so God manifested the quail. In the story it shows how the people soon remembered differently what they came from (because there was a variety of food, they forgot for a minute how bad it was to be slaves) and soon complained about the new situation. It is something I know I have done, because my eyes only see the immediate situation and not the big picture. How often do we want more and more, not satisfied or grateful for what we have.
